Rip Curl Womens Dawn Patrol 3/2mm Chest Zip GBS Steamer Wetsuit

The Women's Dawn Patrol 3/2mm Steamer in retro styling is another wetsuit in the Rip Curl range paying homage to the distinguished typography and fun colourways of the 90s. But it's not appearances that please, this wetsuit is part of Rip Curl's core range and boasts a premium feel and performance.

Dawn Patrol steamers are all equipped with Rip Curl's signature stretch E5 neoprene and E5 taping. Stretch is so important in a steamer; it influences how much extra energy you expel paddling and surfing, as you need to stretch the material as you move. Coupling these flexible materials with a chest zip design also means you get the most out of the E5 technology. Chest zips are preferred over back zip designs for performance as the back zipper splits the large neoprene panel on your back and limits lateral and horizontal flex.

Standard in most quality wetsuits, the Dawn Patrol makes use of Glued and Blind Stitched Seams. This style is conducive to effective water sealing along seams, which are bound by glue and have no stitching pinholes you see in flatlock wetsuits. The real kicker for warmth is the steamy E5 flash lining and E4 thermo lining. Both fleecy internal linings trap heat in the space between fibres. E5 flash lining uses two engineered layers which work together to efficiently funnel water off the suit once hung up, so you're not putting on a freezing wetsuit in your next session.

There's also a sustainability component with this wetsuit. Granted, it's all relative when it comes to neoprene, but a step in the right direction for sure. Neoprene foam with 80% biodegradable Eucafoam, a zip made from 40% recycled components, plus fully recycled jersey linings add up to a little less waste in our landfills and our oceans.

Womens Dawn Patrol 3/2mm Chest Zip GBS Steamer Wetsuit Features:

  • GBS Sealed Seams: Glued and blind stitched seams are impervious to water keeping you warm in the water.
  • Chest zip: A step above your back zip wetsuits, a chest zip is the preferred style for getting more flex out of your wetsuit and improved water sealing for a warmer session.
  • E5 neoprene: Light and super stretchy neoprene used by Rip Curl across their core range.
  • E5 tape: Tape needs to stretch like your neoprene, otherwise you're taking away a lot of the potential neoprene stretch.
  • E5 flash lining: A fast-drying lining originally used in Rip Curl's ultimate wetsuit range, compact layers of fibres on the body and thighs keep you warm in the water.
  • E4 thermo lining: Used on the lower legs and crotch, this is a lighter fibre than the E5 lining but works similarly to retain heat.
  • Hydro-loc collar
  • Part of Rip Curl's range of wetsuits made with sustainability in mind
